  1. Auntie, I had no idea that Gooch (and Conscience, apparently) meditate transcendentally. Thus far I have only heard about it because both David Lynch and Rachel Kann talked about it publicly, however I’ve always dismissed it as esotericism. But if Gooch does TCM, maybe there’s more to it, perhaps he could explain it a bit in an upcoming Gooch-A-Palooza, the hows and whens and whys and such.

  2. Vera, let me fill you in. “The Puppy Episode” was the title of the episode (-s, it was a two-parter) in which Ellen’s character realized that she was a lesbian and eventually came out of the closet. It was broadcast in 1997, shortly after Ellen DeGeneres’ coming out in RL and apparently was both eagerly anticipated and highly controversial. The sitcom got cancelled one year later, and Laura Dern, who played Ellen’s love interest in the episode, didn’t work for a year and a half after it aired, according to an interview on Ellen’s chat show some ten years later, Ellen said she wasn’t hired for three years as a backlash.
I’d recommend to watch it, not only for LGBT History Month (both parts are up on YouTube), since it was kinda ground-breaking, paving the way for gay characters on television shows. There’s also a Wikipedia-page about “The Puppy Episode” which has background information.
